Mike Hall's Bike Mart

Mike Hall's Bike Mart

While a high school student Mike Hall borrowed $500 from his grandmother to start a lawn mower repair/hobby shop business near forest lane and webb chapel.

Originally a successful Schwinn Bicycle Dealership, the business evolved into Mike Hall's Bike Mart, expanding to five locations in Dallas. For many years, it was the top-selling Schwinn dealership in Texas and eventually became the largest-selling Schwinn dealership in the nation.

Richardson Bike Mart

Richardson Bike Mart

In 1980 the business was purchased by Jim Hoyt, who at the time worked as a Schwinn sales representative. The iconic name change happened almost by accident. Jim Hoyt purchased the Richardson location and wasn't able to get in the Yellow Pages and separate the new bike shop from the other Mike Hall Bike Mart's in the area so to ensure customers had reached the right location, Hoyt would greet each caller with “Richardson Bike Mart.”

Bike Mart

Richardson Bike Mart rebrands to Bike Mart

As stated by Woody, Bike Mart grew beyond Richardson and needed to simplify our name. "Richardson Bike Mart McKinney" is a mouth full when answering the phone. We will always answer to both names and our new logo still reflects our heritage with the City of Richardson as the “R” symbol’s three stars honor faith, family, and founders.

The 3 stars in the "R" are symbolic of a few things.

  • Woody's Faith - The Father, The Son & The Holy Spirit.
  • Woody's Family having 3 daughters.
  • 3 Owners in Bike Mart's history.
